Yes just now you can prevent it to grow by going to a dentist and get a proper filling done. Dentist will remove the black mark carious material and will fill it by a medicated material (filling) but if you wait too long the caries will travel deep and then there will be much problems. So go n get your check up done. Gud luck. Â

Hello first understand the difference between cavity and stain blackline or blackspot, if your food is getting stuck in it and it is on the surface then more likely it is a cavity but it depends on the dentist probing the surface of the tooth. Black stains on teeth could be due to many reasons topmost are tea, coffee smoking, tobacco habits you might have taken some medication. You are not brushing at night / in the morning / or using datun or using red paste. Genetically water in your area improper teeth alignment and so your brush is not able to clean those areas. Now you have to see your tooth. If your food is getting stuck in it, more likely it is a cavity, you need to get it filled. But if your food is not getting stuck and you can easily remove food deposits with a toothbrush, then those stains are more likely black/brown stains and do not require filling. Now to find out the difference. Dentist will use a probe amd see whether it is catching any plaque, food debris or not. If not then you do not have to get it filled rather take proper oral hygiene protocol, but if probe is catching plaque and food debris then you better get it filled before it reaches deep. Question: how do you properly take care of your teeth? Choose fluoronidated toothpaste 3m clinpro 5000 1.1% toothpaste (it's more expensive than the other toothpaste available on the market) or enafix toothpaste. Reduces risk for cavity and makes enamel strong. Flourodinated toothpaste decreases enamel solubility by acids and also improves remineralization. Also 1. Correct brushing technique (type of brush, angulation of brush, timing of brushing, movement of brushing is equally important). Https://www.youtube.com/watch? V=mvri4mlhofo 2. Flossing daily. Https://www.youtube.com/watch? V=eap2feo4hci 3. Use of mouthwash like chlorhexidine, hydrogen peroxide, or betadine or salt water rinses 4. Use of interdental brushes/toothpicks. Https://www.youtube.com/watch? V=lfc3xc3jtog url/watch? V=wgaeir8vpfu url/watch? V=v4kisopfwp4 5. Gum paints like stolin. Metrohex plus gel for gum care. 6. Fluoride application every 6 months from a nearby dentist. 7. Tell your dentist to take 5 x-rays (upper/ lower right and left back teeth from canine to the last molar) of yours every quarterly or 6 months or yearly (depending on the caries activity level) quarterly left-back and keep a track of caries activity. 8. Brushing at night is super important, no matter what you eat or drink. Mouthwash cannot be a substitute for brushing. Brushing is a must. You can do clean brushing (without toothpaste). 9. Restrict eating toffee/ chocolate/ milk/soda/pizza/burger/chewing gum/or any food or drink in between your meal. 10. Stop habits like drinking coke, lime, any fizzy drinks, tobacco, paan, smoke, and similar. You need to reduce the bacterial load in your mouth, as soon as you do it you will see a change. Get your fillings completed before it reaches deep. It will save not only your tooth from getting super decay but also save your money which you will be spending on the future high-end treatment. Â

Sometimes they are just stain marks. Cavity or an indentation when there's repeated food particle lodgement or when there are signs of sensitvity in that tooth are a cause of worry and you must visit the dentist soon for the same to prevent it from expanding further towards the pulp (nerve). Â
