I have hypothyroidism from few years. Already tried homeopathy but it got only worse. After consultation local doctor taking eltroxin 75 mcg. Tested after 1 month. T3-.87, t4-8.7 and tsh is 7.03. Should I continue the same dose or make any changes.

Mr. lybrate-user rao, thanks for the query. I have seen the details given. Please understand that hypothyroidism is a thyroxine hormone deficiency disorder. Which means that your thyroid gland is not producing enough or almost nil of that hormone. Since it is required for a number of vital metabolic functions in the body plus for normal functioning of brain, it has to be supplemented every day for lifetime. Taking some other alternate therapies has absolutely no benefit. It is better if you come back in a private conversation with necessary details like your symptoms, dietary pattern & lipid profile (as lipids also are deranged in hypothyroidism), on going through those details I will be able to advise appropriately. You should continue the same dose if you have no symptoms as such. Moreover, after starting Eltroxin, TSH levels take about 6-8 weeks to stabilize. So just wait and get tested again after a month to aptly decide the dose.
