I am male, 76 years, 5' 9, 62 kg, generally fit but with chronic pain in lower back since last 10 years, also a recent spondelyosis in neck and upper arm, inspite of my regular excercises for legs, chest etc. Kindly reply by email and oblige.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. It is natural to have some degenerative changes in your lower back region seeing your age. But if you do not have any other symptoms like leg pains, numbness, weakness in legs, paresthesias ( electrical shock like sensations) and your pain is only localized to your back region, then I would think the best way to move ahead is with good and intensive physical therapy under supervision. Also kindly tell me how much distance can you walk without pain? do you take pain killers for walking? also take regular calcium medications and vitamin d as required to keep your bone metabolism intact. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.
