Hello, I have been suffering from gastrointestinal issues for a while 1) I first experienced upper abdomen pain and cramps in around february along with vomiting and watery stools. I consulted a homeopathic doctor who said it is indigestion and prescribed some pills. My condition got better in 3 to 4 days 2) I suffered from the same upper abdomen pain with watery stools but no vomiting a month later in march. The same doctor told me it could be because of worms. I took worm medicine and some pills he prescribed and I felt better in 3 to 4 days. Did a sonography which came out normal 3) this month about a week ago I had the same pain in my upper abdomen with watery stools but no vomiting. The doctor said its indigestion and gave some pills. The pain got better however I noticed change in my stools. Since then I have had soft brown stool and today I noticed a change in color from brown to dark stool. What could it be? Background info- I am 23, female, weigh 41 kgs, never had a drink or smoked, have not had red meat in years, only eat chicken rarely.

There’s no disease which repeats itself every month. It might be menstrual cramps or related to something in your diet. There are some foods which cause watery stool if your body doesn’t tolerates them… for example in lactose intolerance, on consumption of dairy products, people face abdominal pain and watery stool, The treatment is to identify and avoid those products. Also it might be an initial sign of ibs . If you have loose stool, drink plenty of fluids You can consult me online for further information. Hopefully you recover soon Take care

Your symptoms are most likely due to amoebiasis which is causing the pain in abdomen, watery stool and vomiting. The brown to dark colour of stool is due to digested blood, suggesting a long term infection which hasn't been cured. Firstly you need to ensure that you are drinking clean water. If you use tap water or poorly filtered water, boil --> cool --> strain it with a clean cloth. During the time you have watery stool and abdominal pain, you need to reduce solid food intake and hydrate yourself well. You can have an online consult to further discuss your symptoms and determine which antibiotic course will work best for you eliminate the infection.
