Sunita ji, Thanks for the query. Since it is an open query, there is no way to look at earlier communication. So I am not able to recollect any details about earlier reply. Therefore, it is necessary to know following things before any suggestion or an opinion can be made. 1)Patients earlier fasting, PP glucose levels, HbA1c%, lipid profile, dietary habits, extent of daily exercise. Plus since the person is 51 years, it is necessary to know his serum creatinine & urea. Taking metformin for 6 days is fine, but what are glucose levels after doing that (Both fasting & PP), unless proper information is given there is no way to answer. Another important aspect is looking at his height and weight he is morbidly obese with a BMI(Body Mass Index) of 40.83 kgs/Sq meter(Normal < 23 kgs/Sq meter). His ideal body weight should be about 56 kgs, which means there is an excess of over 42 kgs. This is the major hindrance in blood glucose control. Even if he reduces 5 to 8 kgs there will be a much better glucose reduction. I hope you understand. If you have any questions please do come back. If you come back with all above details, preferably in a private conversation that will be much better as I will be able to give specific advice and prescribe the required medication. In this communication we are supposed to give only general guidelines. Thanks.
