I got delivered before 9 days its a c-section. I am breastfeeding my baby girl. I got uti and doc prescribed monurol (fosfomycin) sachet.i want to know it is safe to use during breastfeeding.

Monurol granules is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.

Fosfomycin is not known to cause any side effects in the baby. However safer alternatives are available such as nitrofurantoin. Stay hydrated- it will helps in getting rid of the infection faster. Take care!

It is quite unlikely that your baby to have adverse effect. The drug will be bound to the calcium in the milk and the baby will not be affected.
