Stage fear can be quite paralyzing although it hardly has anything to do with the stage. It is really a fear of people. We are gregarious by nature, social animals and need each other for survival and growth. Yet, the very thing that should be our strength can become our weakness, for various reasons. This last fact has to be discovered: what happened to you to develop this extent of anxiety around speaking to people. Are you afraid of being judged and rejected for what you have to say? Have you grown up with a lot of criticism? Do you have a serious rejection issue? The answers to these questions could open a can of worms with which you can do some work. Fear is the bottom-line. Do a personality development course, public speaking course, conversing skills course, join a Toastmasters Club, practice elocution skills, and above all talk to a counselor to help with the underlying fear.
