Hi, my son is 2 1/2 months now. He is having trouble with spitup since he was 1 month old. He is born at 36 wks at 2400 gms and now weighs 4 kg. He didt gain weight in 1st month, but for no reason. Now he is gain weight normally about 40 gms each day. He is exclusively on breastfeed. I have consulted 3 doctors already and they have suggested nasoclear to make sure it is not due to blocked nose or congestion. Also, I was asked to give neopeptine drops which also didn't work. We always burp him after feed and keep him upright in lap for at least 30 mins after feed. I also make him sleep with his head and upper body little raised up. But nothing seems to work. His spit up comes through his nose and chokes him making it a very difficult to breathe. The vomit is not projectile and falls on him. It happens even when baby and we are all asleep making it scary as we may not even know he is choking as the baby is not even able to cry. Please guide if any suggestions other than this.

It is normal. Feed the baby in 4-5 hrs interval and burp for 15-20 minutes. Allow the baby to play and don't feed when ever he makes noise. Baby wait is adequate, so do not worry.

Seems like your baby is suffering from increased gastroesophageal reflux which normally goes away by 12-18 months age. If symptoms are not troublesome & not associated with weight loss, it generally does improve with changing positions like you have tried. But if it still hasn't improved, you can try syp rantac (75 mg/5 ml) 0.75 ml (15 drops) twice daily 15 mins before feed for a month. Also eliminate cow's milk & egg from mother's milk for the duration of treatment.
