I have used steroid on my face so to cure the side effects of steroids I went to dermatologist and he suggested me tacrolimus ointment and I have applied it for 4-5 months. I have stopped using steroid and now I am not using any ointment on my face, but due to the use of tacrolimus my skin becomes photosensitive and pigmentation occurred on my nose and cheek area, what should I do to cure this pigmentation. Can I use kojic acid cream to treat this, if yes then suggest me some steroid free kojic acid cream.

Instead take a spoon of milk, add a pinch of turmeric (haldi). Mix n apply on face with the help of cotton. Leave for a few minutes then wash off. Apply moisturizer like coconut oil. Simple Honey Mask--Before applying this mask, rinse your face with warm water to open up pores. Then apply honey and leave it on the skin for 30 minutes. Rinse the honey off with warm water; then rinse again with cold water to close the pores. Use some sunblock with SPF (at least 50) every time you go out in sun. Hi lybrate-user! steroid creams per se can cause photosensitivity and withdrawal symptoms if used on face for longer period of time. Tacrolimus is the drug of choice for steroid damaged facies. Anyways, if you are suffering from pigmentation and sunsensitivity, please do use a proper suncreen (effect against both uva and uvb radiation) in the morning and kojic cream or hydroquinone free creams at night .take vit c rich foods, which is a natural antioxidant. Time taken for skin to rebound back from steroid side effects varies from person to person and it is generally from few weeks to few months. Patience is very important. Tacrolimus is an excellent medication. You can use it twice a week. Any good kojic acid cream you can ask from your dermatologist. As it is not feasible on this platform without examining your face. Because your face is sensitive now. But 100% treatable.
