Birth control pills are mostly hormonal pills made up of female hormones. Birth control pills may be prescribed to help relieve painful menstrual cramping. According to a literature review published by Cochrane Library in 2009, birth control pills are thought to reduce the amount of prostaglandins. This, in turn, is said to reduce blood flow and cramping. But, they do so by preventing ovulation. Prolonged use of them for the said purpose amounts to prolonged suppression of the normal functioning of the reproductive system and the body may respond to that in ways we don't want it to. I seen cases where females complained of multiple ovarian cysts, fibroids or absence of menses (amenorrhea) even when they stopped taking them. Take care, stay well.

Hi you r only 16 yrs, before having this pill you need to know why your getting cramps, because of high level of prostaglandins hormone which tends to contract uterus, birth control pills lowers this level and also ovulation, so no cramps. More over same for acne, it lowers the level of testosterone hormone produce by ovaries and adrenal gland, which produce the sebum in excess. Sebum clog the pores and promote bacterial infection to grow acne. But before having this pill one need to check to what level you have cramps if its mild no need to take it. But most importantly please don't judge by lay man understanding and experience, doctors experience and knowledge are ultimately best to prescribe you a good medicine for any particular symptoms or diseases, don't play with your hormones. Birth control do have other side effects too.
