Hello - I am 43 years old male. My blood tests in august revealed fasting sugar of 127 and pp of 159 and triglycerides of 214. I have been having cetapin xr500 and stanlip 145 daily since then. I repeated the tests last week and this time the hbac showed 5.5 and triglycerides 135 but tsh has increased to 7.4, creatinine to 1.1 and egfr has reduced to 78. I have not had any issues or abnormal results on these till now. I am concerned about the creatinine increase and low egfr. Can you tell me the implications and suggested course of action?

Hello, Thanks for the query. I have seen the details given. Your glucose levels and HbA1c% are very good. In fact there is no diabetes. At the most you are in pre-diabetes condition. But with excess weight (BMI 29.37/Sq meter) almost grade 1 obesity, you have an excess of over 20 kgs. So if weight is reduced you will feel much healthier. Normal creatinine range in men is 0.6 to 1.2 mg. Even 1.4 is considered fine. TSH level is high, suggestive of subclinical hyothyrooidism. Which usually needs no treatment. However since you are obese, taking Levothyroxine should be helpful. If you have any questions do come back. Thanks.

Tsh 7.4 is suggestive of hypothyroid and needs correction with thyroid hormone supplement. Repeat kidney function test. Continue other medicines.
