Hi. I was diagnosed with pcod. Last year doctor prescribed me thyronorm and normoz as my thyroid levels and sugar levels were high with irregular periods. As my thyroid levels and blood sugar got normal, but still irregular periods, three months ago a doctor prescribed metformin only. Periods were ok for a month or two. Haven't got periods for two months. What to do?

Hello.. PCOS is a very common heterogeneous disorder affecting 1 in 10 women of reproductive age group.. It is associated with increased insulin level and increased androgen level which affects the release of eggs from ovaries and leads to irregular periods, weight gain, infertility and increased facial hair growth etc .. Lifestyle modification helps to control symptoms of pcos .. Lifestyle modification includes weight reduction, avoiding high calorie food, daily exercises, brisk walk daily for 30 minutes and small meals at frequent intervals.. Along with above you require either progesterone or low dose combined pills for regularising your periods..
