Hello Lybrate-User, From your symptoms, it's clear that you have allergic conjunctivitis which is a condition in which your eyes respond to the allergens around you. The symptoms are itching, watering and ropy discharge. As most of the allergic conjunctivitis are seasonal, you might require to use antiallergic medications during the season (summers for most patients). These include olopatadine eye drops, sodium cromoglycate eye drops. Using antibiotics (like ciprofloxacin) will not be useful in such a situation. And also be careful while using steroid eye drops (betamethasone) as steroids can have certain side effects if used like rise in eye pressure, superadded infection risk. Please consult an ophthalmologist before using steroid eye drops (may be required in svere cases). Thankyou.

Hello dear, you have diagnosed with vkc or allergic conjunctivitis. So, you have to take care of some precipitating factors like hot & dusty environment, avoid driving bike, ac temperature should not be below 24. You need to use anti-allergic medication for the long term. But what you are using is steroid with an antibiotic. Long term self-medication with steroid may cause glaucoma. So, Please took regular treatment with close consultation from an ophthalmologist. And take care of other factors, that I have mentioned. Regards.
