Dear madam / sir I am a 60 years male and I am taking trika .25 mg (only point 25 mg) everyday morning at around 10 am after breakfast past 7 years. I went to a general doctor as I had a little tensions in my work and he gave me trika .25 mg and I continued to take from 7 years. I have never taken more than .25 mg and only 1 tablet per day in the morning after food. Is it okay if I continue life long or should I see a doctor to gradually stop the tablet.

Hello Lybrate user, trka is usually given to level certain unbalanced chemicals released by the brain causing anxiousness or depressing thoughts, in order to calm the central nervous system thereby preventing panic attacks. If you were advised by the doctor 7 years ago; then surely you must have encountered anxious thoughts, but the question is are you still feeling the same? Do you still feel anxious or have panic attacks? Are you still unable to be tension free? And most importantly are you taking a regular follow up with the doctor for this prescription or are you taking on your own will. Some medicines become addictive, and should not be continued without your doctor's advice, and surely continuing any medication without further assessment is always having side effects in the long run. You need to visit your doctor and consult whether you still actually need to continue with the medicine. And also do not stop the medicine on your own as it certainly will have withdrawal symptoms causing you uneasiness and other side effects. Take care and consult your doctor for further advice with a regular follow up.
