Hi, I'm 39 years old. Since 4 years I'm suffering with dysmenorrhea. 2 years back I was diagnosed with adenomyosis. Iud was placed to reduce uterine thickness. It is helping but slow. But the main complaint is still I'm facing with severe pain and irregular uterine bleeding. Dr. suggested sevista 60 mg for both problems. My doubt is can sevista help in my pain because I can't bare the pain any more. I decided to go for hysterectomy but Dr. is saying not required. please help me how can I get rid of this severe labor kind of pain.

Hi, If you are having severe pain in spite of IUD, then should go for hysterectomy because along wid adenomyosis, there is endometriosis which causes s so much of pain. This iud is not able to take care of d severe pain.

Hello, The best management for adenomyosis and associated dysmenorrhea is mirena.in some cases however its not useful. Yes you can try with sevista which contains ormeloxifene. There is a great chance that you will become amenorrheic with it and thus there will be relief of pain. Do try with sevista for at least 12 weeks, if it helps continue it for a total of 24 weeks.

Hi lybrate-user. Please confirm if you are having endometriosis in addition to adenomyosis. Adenomyosis is generally pain free. If you are suffering a lot final option will be laparoscopic hysterectomy with preservation of your ovaries if you have completed your family. You can take second opinion from another gynaecologist regarding the same.
