Hi, I woke up yesterday and my tongue was swollen but only around where my tongue ring was. Might I add it's been pierced for 13 years. Woke up again this morning and it was swollen again. Not to the point I can't breathe or swallow but enough to irritate me. Took some ibuprofen sucked on some ice and it takes it down. It's still a lil swollen where the tongue ring was. Yes I had to take it out.

Hi lybrate-user ,the swelling cud be trauma from sharp tooth ,or even it may be irritation from ring which you got pierced, 13 years back. Pls get urself checked. If the swelling is reducing with the removal of ring ,den cause is tongue ring and if it's not ,den cud be an ulcer due to sharp tooth or some vitamin deficiencies, also lead to such happenings. Please get urself checked with the doctor.
