Hi I am feeling very low, it’s been 4 years since I have lost interest in my favorite activities, I don’t want to go outside for groceries, I don’t want to meet people. This is making me sick. I am sad most of the times. Please help.

You might have depression, It's biological, you should consult a psychiatrist as soon as possible. Depression is very common and it is treatable.

Do something or some activity forcibly to make your life on proper track as you are saying you don't want to do many things. Its good that you know due to lack of some activities or due to your unwillingness the main problem is arising. Many people goes through these situation in their lives and don't even know their problem ,i can understand your condition, in your situation inspite of your will, practically you are not able to do these things. Concentrate on your positive features ,you are the one who knows your problem and infact also have some idea regarding its solution, the only problem is in its application. Our feelings are within us only. Don't allow your sadness to dominate your happiness ,there are many option then why to choose sadness although our mind will search the negative thoughts as these are more dominating but are we not strong than our thoughts ultimately it is within us. So we can give it proper direction. We can make our body such that it chooses only happiness from small things, many times there are things which is not in our control or useless things in which we get involve and makes our life complicated. Try these things slowly you will see the difference, make some good friends ,share your feelings with them, start some activities ,do whatever makes you happy. Give some time to yourself. Don't take extra burden on yourself .life is for enjoying its different colour not for bearing such pressure. Take care.

Dear mam I can imagine it must be quite difficult for you to cope. The symptoms that you are experiencing are suggestive of depression and needs to be treated. Please see a psychiatrist for a detailed evaluation which will include a physical examination and some blood tests to rule out any physical cause like thyroid abnormality or vitamin deficiency which can result in such presentation. A psychiatrist will also do a detailed psychological evaluation to come to a diagnosis and treatment. Treatment usually consists of medications as well as psychological therapy. Please don't lose hope. Talk to people who are close to you. Try to engage yourself as much as you can. Try going for a walk or exercising to improve your mood. Please seek professional help. Please see a psychiatrist at the earliest of you are feeling hopeless and having thoughts of harming yourself. I am certain that you will feel better with right treatment and support. The symptoms are suggestive of Chronic depression, you need to consult a psychiatrist to rule out medical reasons and get treated with antidepressants and cognitive behavior therapy, if needed. All the best.
