I have detected hypothyroidism from last 5 months. Earlier the medicine was started with 100 mcg which has been gradually reduced to 37. 5 mcg. Please suggest for how long I will have to continue this medication as I just want to overcome this completely.

We can't judge as to how much time it will take to withdraw the medication. It all depends. It is only by repeated testing of TSH levels we have to decide the dose.

Hello, Thanks for the query. Hypothyroidism is a hormone (thyroxine) deficiency disease. Since this hormone is required every day for various metabolic activities and for normal functioning of brain, it needs to be supplemented every day. Hence, the treatment is invariably for lifetime. Thanks.
