Is hyperthyroidism curable? My friend's sister has this disease, the doctor said its lifelong process. Please help us and guide us.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Hyperthyroidism some times gets corrected after antithyroid treatment for about 12 to 18 or 24 months. If it comes back, then it is unlikely to be cured. Then patient has to take lifelog treatment. SOmetimes either surgery is done or radio active Iodine is used. Then patient may develop hypothyroidism which has to be treated for lifetime Thanks.
