Hi Sir, I am addicted of smoking. And I smoke too much. I smoke 5 to 6 cigarettes daily. And I want to leave this habit. But I can not do it. Please suggest me for this.

Dear lybrateuser, - To leave your habit you have to develop a strong willpower & determination - decide a fixed date when you want to leave, you have to completely stop from that day, it cannot be reduced gradually & stopped - remove all the items connected with it like cigarettes, lighter, ashtray etc from the house or where ever you keep it so that they are out of reach & you cannot get them if a strong urge is there - don't let your friends influence you to start again even one smoke will pull you back - keep your mind busy when urge is there, watch TV, go out for a walk, solve a puzzle, talk to a friend or whatever activity can distract your mind when you know that the urge will be there - if it is still difficult then use a nicotene chewing gum which is taken when the urge is there so that the craving gradually decreases - have plenty of oral fluids to wash off the toxins from the body - involve yourself in regular exercise to build your body - have a well balanced diet with more of fruits, vegetables & whole grains, protein rich foods to boost your immunity & to keep your body fit.
