Hii I'm 44 years old and female. I had hypothyroid. At First my TSH value was 15.90 doctor advice me to take 50 mg thyroxine tablet after 3 months my TSH value was 11 doctor advice me to increase dosage to 75 mg medicine after 3 month again on testing my TSH value was 2.7 doctor advice me to continue my 75 mg medicine now after 3 months again on testing my TSH value is 6.7. My question is do I need to continue my dosages of 75 mg tablets or should I take another tablet? Or increase dosage to 100 mg?

Follow some exercise routine regularly, preferably yogasans along with meditation, and walk too. This way your current dosage of medicine will control your TSH levels, and may be in future, you may require lesser doses even.

Lybrate-user ji, Thanks for the query. WHen one is on adequate dose of levothyroxine, TSH is usually around 3 to 4 mU/L, at that level all the symptoms hypothyroidism are in check. Therefore, it appears that current dosage still not adequate. Increase it by 12.5 mcg, to 87.5 mcg. Then check the TSH after 6 weeks to see if desired level is achieved. Thanks.
