My three year old son suddenly suffered hair loss but not in patches like single single hair would come out. 20-25 in a day. The scalp seems to be perfect as nothing is visible but the doctor told its tinea capitis (the fungal infection ). He has been advised Griseofulvin medicine for a month. And it's been 10 days but no significant result. My question is -can scalp be healthy and still child can suffer fungal infection and how many days shall it take to reduce the hair fall because the hair fall must have gone from 20-25 to 20 may be. Please advise.

If there is no flaking nor itching then chances of fungal infection is rare. I shall advice you to take a second opinion. Ideally all tests like CBC, Thyroid, etc should be done to establish any systemic cause of hairfall.
