My mother has undergone surgery for left breast as it was detected with invasive ductal carcinoma grade 2 Post surgery we got the histopathology report Diagnosis says left mastectomy invasive ductal carcinoma grade 2 axillary lymph node 0/19 negative for metastasis by carcinoma Ptnm --- pt2 n0 m0 Dermal lymp vascular invasion -- not identified please suggest how we should proceed further for treatment Is chemo is required or radiation.

Dear lybrate-user In addition to the routine pathology report that you have mentioned, additional testing (immunohistochemistry for ER/PR/Her 2neu) is required. Chemotherapy and anti-hormonal therapy are used in the stage of disease that you have mentioned. Exact decision should be taken after getting the IHC reort.

As it is pT2 she will require chemotherapy. Radiotherapy can be avoided.
