Calcium is the only known substance to inhibit absorption of iron. Avoid Foods rich in iron include: Red meat, pork and poultry. Seafood. Beans. Dark green leafy vegetables, such as spinach. Dried fruit, such as raisins and apricots. Iron-fortified cereals, breads and pastas. Peas. Poha Jaggery Avoid vitamin C-rich foods -- like oranges, amla ,guava, strawberries, grapefruit, kiwi fruit and orange juice. Vitamin C significantly boosts iron absorption from meals.
