I am suffering from syphilitic leukoplakia from last one year. Done vdrl negative after 4 doses of penicillin. I am cleaning my tongue with soda powder to get rid from sticky food particle. I am no more vdrl positive but leukoplakia is still not going.

A white patch associated with�syphilis specifically in the tertiary stage of the infection. It is not considered a type of leukoplakia in true senses, since the causative agent treponema pallidum is well known. It is now rare, but when syphilis was more common, this white patch usually appeared on the top surface of the tongue and carried a high risk of malignant transformation. Regarding this patch in your mouth, you can't remove it forcefully. Also it is not going to stay there forever. Best is to take plenty of vitamins (A, C, E, minerals (zinc, selenium) and antioxidants and wait till white patch disappears. Visit a specialist every two months or if you find any abnormal change in the lesion. It may take 6 months to one or two years in some cases to completely get rid of the problem. Have patience. Do not use soda powder it won't help. Thank You.
