Hi thanks for writing to Lybrate. Cows milk to be best avoided till baby is 9 months plus. You may use baby formula, only if mother not lactating well. Stage 1 formula of any baby formula feed can be used. Please do see that mother drinks at least 2-3 litres of fluids in a day. And feed baby every 2 hours.

Usually there is no reason not producing enough milk for infant except not inclination of mother to feed baby. Encourage mother to feed baby and simultaneously find out other reasons consulting obstetrician n to treat accordingly. No milk is better than mother's milk.
