My glucose levels ain't in control, neither only with mixtard nor with actrapid or actrapid with lantus. If I take only mixtard my pp increases? and if I take? actrapid with or without lantus my fasting increases?. It controls when I take mixtard (morning 13u nd night 15u) and actrapid 13u in noon with lantus 10u. I'm afraid of using three different types of insulin. Is it ok or it has some bad effect or may be.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. If you take either Mixtard or Glargine plus 2 or 3 doses of Actrapid, pre-luch, pre-dinner, then you should be able to control the blood glucose level. Usually long acting Insulin like Glargine provides a constant level of Insulin, plus actrapid will be able to reduce post prandial (post lunch and post dinner) rise in glucose. You may have to strictly monitor insulin dose and glucose levels. Another way is to use a continuous glucose monitor (LibrePro) which records 96 glucose readings (every 15 minutes one) in 24 hours, will show when there is excess (much above the pre- set glucose range). This also gives 6 graphs showing all the variations. Once applied the sensor remains for 14 days on the arm. That will help you to understand how and when to adjust the insullin dose in relation to food intake. Please ask your diabetologist to use this for you. It will definitely help in better control Thanks.
