Basically two common type open angle glaucoma( OAG)&close angle glaucoma, in open angle glaucoma there is gradual painless loss of vision which is detected very late. Frequent change of glass is also sign of glaucoma, late diagnosis of OAG is cause of poor prognosis. Closed angle glaucoma comes with severe pain& redness,so patient immediately consult ophthmologist ,so prognosis is very good. In late stage of OAG cup disc ratio is almost 0.9& field is almost fully constricted,so you have to keep patient on anti-glaucoma eye drops because sometimes in glaucoma surgery in late stage there is chances of complete visual loss,do doctor prefer to control iop by eye drops & these days plenty of anti-glaucoma eye drops which can control iop for long time & can maintain remaining vision.
