Ringworm, Athletes Foot And Jock Itch

DNB GENERAL SURGERY, MBBS
General Surgeon, Mumbai
Ringworm, Athletes Foot And Jock Itch

Some people call these fungal infections" ringworm" because they often cause a ring-shaped, red, itchy rash on the skin. But a ring-shaped rash is not always there. People with athlete's foot might instead have moist, raw skin between their toes, or flaking skin on the bottoms of their feet. People with jock itch often just have a red rash on the groin.

Sometimes, especially in children, the fungus can infect the scalp. On the scalp, the infection can look like a bald spot or a round flaky patch of skin.

How did I get a fungal infection? — you can catch fungal infections from anyone who is infected. You can also catch them from an infected dog or cat. Plus, you can pick up the infections from places where the fungus might be, such as:

●a shower stall

●the locker room floor

●the area near a pool

If you have a fungal infection on one part of your body, you can also spread it to other parts. For instance, men with a fungal infection on their feet sometimes spread it to their groin.

How are fungal infections treated? — the treatment for a fungal infection depends on which body part is affected. If you have a fungal infection on your scalp, you must take pills that will kill the fungus. Treatment for scalp infections usually lasts 1 to 3 months.

If you have a fungal infection on your feet, groin, or another body part, you probably will not need pills. Instead, you can use a special gel, cream, lotion, or powder that kills fungus. Treatment with these products lasts 2 to 4 weeks.

If you have a fungal infection on your groin and on your feet, you must treat both infections at the same time. If you do not, the infection on your feet can spread to your groin again.

How do I keep from getting a fungal infection again? — if someone in your home has had a fungal infection on their scalp:

●get rid of any combs, brushes, barrettes, or other hair products that could have the fungus on them

●make sure a doctor or nurse checks everyone in the house for a fungal infection

●if the fungal infection might have come from a pet, have it checked by a vet

Here are some other general tips on how to prevent fungal infections:

●do not share unwashed clothes, sports gear, or towels with other people

●always wear slippers or sandals when at the gym, pool, or other public areas. That includes public showers.

●wash with soap and shampoo after sports or exercise

●change your socks and underwear at least once a day

●keep your skin clean and dry. Always dry yourself well after swimming or showering.

What are ringworm, athlete's foot, and jock itch? — they are skin infections caused by a fungus. These types of fungal infections are also called" tinea"

Hair Loss In Men And Women

DNB GENERAL SURGERY, MBBS
General Surgeon, Mumbai
Hair Loss In Men And Women

Androgenetic alopecia can look different in men and women. Men often develop bald areas on the front and the top of the scalp. Women often have thinning hair on the top of the scalp, but usually do not lose all of the hair there (figure 1).

Another common cause of hair loss is called" alopecia areata" this type of hair loss happens when the body's infection-fighting system gets confused and starts to attack the parts of the skin where hair grows. People with alopecia areata have big, usually round spots of hair missing (picture 1).

There are many other reasons for hair loss. Some medical conditions and even some medicines can also cause hair loss.

Should I see a doctor or nurse? — see your doctor or nurse if you are very bothered by your hair loss, or if:

●you are not sure why you are losing your hair

●your hair loss occurs suddenly

●you also have itching or pain on your scalp

●you also don't feel well or feel very tired

Are there tests I should have? — most people with hair loss do not need tests. But your doctor or nurse might do tests to make sure your hair loss is not caused by a hormonal problem or another medical condition.

How is hair loss treated? — that depends on what type of hair loss you have.

If your hair loss is caused by a health problem, treating that problem can help. Other types of hair loss are treated with medicines that go on the scalp or that come in pills. Sometimes surgery is used to treat people with areas of hair that cannot grow back.

●androgenetic alopecia – these medicines can help hair regrow in people with androgenetic alopecia:

•minoxidil – this medicine is used in men and women. You can buy it without a prescription. It comes in a liquid or foam that you put on your head.

•finasteride – this medicine is meant for men. Doctors sometimes also give it to women who have been through menopause (meaning they have stopped having periods). It comes in a pill, and you need a prescription to buy it.

•spironolactone– this medicine can help hair regrow in some women who do not have good results with minoxidil. It is not safe to use during pregnancy. Women who can get pregnant are often given birth control pills to prevent pregnancy while they are taking spironolactone. The medicine comes in a pill, and you need a prescription to buy it.

●alopecia areata – these are some examples of medicines that can help regrow hair in people with alopecia areata:

•medicines called steroids – these can be given as shots, or applied directly to the skin (for example, as a liquid, gel, foam, lotion, or cream). The medicine slows or stops the immune response that causes alopecia areata. These are not the same as the steroids some athletes take illegally.

•a treatment called" topical immunotherapy" – a dermatologist usually gives this type of treatment. The doctor puts a special medicine that causes a mild allergic reaction on the spots of hair loss. You usually need many treatments to see if topical immunotherapy will work.

What if I am upset about my hair loss? — losing your hair can be very tough. If you feel sad or anxious because of your hair loss, speak to your doctor or nurse. He or she can help you get the support you need.

What causes hair loss? — the most common cause of hair loss is a condition called" androgenetic alopecia" this condition is also known as" male-pattern baldness" when it happens in men and" female-pattern hair loss" when it happens in women.

Testosterone is majorly a male hormone produced by the testicles. A small quantity of testosterone is also produced by the adrenal glands. Female ovaries also tend to produce a very small amount of testosterone. In males, testosterone production begins as soon as seven weeks after conception and it increases till age of 30 years. After 30 years of age, testosterone levels begin to decline. Causes of Low Testosterone: The normal total testosterone levels in males vary between 300 ng/dl – 1000 ng/dl. A total testosterone level below 350 ng/dl is considered low. When testicles produce low testosterone, the condition is referred to as male hypogonadism. The causes of low testosterone levels are congenital abnormality (Klinefelter’s syndrome), undescended testicles, orchitis, injury to testicles, pituitary gland disorders, obesity, stress, alcoholism, radiation exposure and HIV. In addition to this, testosterone levels start to drop down after age of 30 years. Symptoms of Low Testosterone: In foetus life, low testosterone leads to underdeveloped genitals During puberty, low testosterone levels impede growth of testicles, penis, and hair. Development of muscle mass and bone density are also hindered In adults, low testosterone levels cause erectile dysfunction, low sperm count, infertility, low sex drive, hair loss, breast development, loss of muscle strength, decreased bone density (leading to weak, fragile bones prone to fracture – osteoporosis) and lowered energy levels. Homeopathic mode of treatment offers help in many hormone related health conditions including low testosterone. Homeopathic medicines are safe and work on the root cause of the condition to improve testosterone levels in males. The treatment option available in the conventional mode of medicine is hormone replacement. These are temporary measures and carry a host of side effects. Homeopathy uses natural medicines to treat low testosterone levels and therefore, does not have any toxic side-effects. Homeopathic medicines help by stimulating the testes to produce sufficient testosterone hormone needed to carry out normal functions rather than temporarily supplementing testosterone from an external source. You can easily take an online consultation for further treatment guidance.

For reducing masturbation: Explore and make a list of time when you usually masturbate including factors which lead to it. - avoid same factors at that particular time, e.g. If you masturbate when you are lonely, then try to be with people all the time. - divert your mind from thoughts of masturbation: sit back, relax, drink a glass of water, try counting backwards from 50 to 1. - if you are used to masturbate watching porn, thn block porn in internet connection and delete all the files you have. - do other activities like swimming, walking, any outdoor sports or going out with friends - if you masturbate in shower, take a quick cold shower and get out early. - If you masturbate while sleeping, for some days sleep in the same room with family members or friend. - start exercising hard while you have excess thoughts of masturbation. This is how you will lose energy, feel tired and would go to sleep without masturbation. Urges generally last not more than half hour, you have to divert your mind in this half an hour. I can also suggest you Medicine for controlling it.

Dear Lybrate User, There is no specific medicine to increase the size of penis. However, you may have come across a number of gimmicking advertisement of medicines which claim to increase the size of penis. Do not fall prey for any such advertisement because the penis would not get bigger unless there is an increase of the size of the underlying vascular muscles of penis The size of penis depends on four factors:- 1) HEIGHT OF THE PERSON :- Every organ of a taller person posses greater dimension than those of a shorter person. 2) TESTOSTERONE HORMONE:- Less secretion of this hormone leads to underdevelopment of sexual organs 3) SEXUAL DISEASES:- Patients suffering from Erectile dysfunction often complaints of short penis. 4) FATTY TUMMY:- With every increase of 6 kg in weight, the waistline is increased up to 2 cm. This fatty layer of abdomen conceals 2 cm of the length of penis by surrounding it. The plan of action behind increasing the size of penis is to increase the size of those underlying muscles of penis But before the treatment to increase the size of penis is being started it is necessary to identify which of the aforesaid causes is the root of the problem. Unless those causes are eradicated the treatment of penis enlargement will not be effective. So I would suggest you to consult me privately via Lybrate as it is very necessary to diagnose the proper underlying cause of your problem if you are wishing for a permanent relief from your problems. A permanent annihilation of the underlying cause of the disease will not only provide you relief from your troubles but it will also cease any chance of further relapse of that particular disease condition. You can consult me privately through my private URL https://www.Lybrate.com/baharampur/doctor/dr-prithviraj-singha-homeopath After opening that aforesaid URL, click on the CONSULT ONLINE option & pay the consultation fees of Rs 100/- only. As you pay the consultation fees, Lybrate will open a private chatbox through which you will be able to discuss your ailments with me for the next 7 days & get a comprehensive treatment procedure for your problems thereafter. Kindly note that if you indulge in sexual relation after an interval of minimum 7 days then you are bound to discharge quickly during intercourse but that does not imply that you have any disease. It occurs due to loss of control of the muscles of penis. Normally it is seen that when a person does sexual intercourse daily he gains control over the muscles of penis & can stay longer during sex. But if you notice that you are ejaculating quickly in spite of daily sexual interaction then you need to take Homoeopathic Dilution TITANIUM 200, 5 drops, thrice daily, in empty stomach to get rid of Premature Ejaculation. Also notice whether you are having a second erection within 15 minutes of ejaculation for the first time. If you are not experiencing any second erection within 15 minutes of first  ejaculation & the first ejaculation happens quickly then you are surely suffering from ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION. There will be a change of medication in this case. To get rid of Erectile Dysfunction you need to take Homoeopathic Mother Tincture DAMIANA Q, 30 drops, thrice daily, after meals, in a cup of water. Kindly note that this medication may not be sufficient enough to take care of your problem. These medicines are based on the symptoms of your diseased condition & these medicines need to be complemented by further deep-acting remedies in order to permanently eliminate the underlying cause of the disease.
