About Hifenac P Tablet

Hifenac P helps in the treatment of painful Rheumatic conditions like Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis and spondylitis. The non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAIDs) works by blocking the effect of cyclo-oxygenase enzymes (COX).

These enzymes are responsible for making chemical prostaglandins, at sites of injury, which results in inflammation, pain, swelling and damage. The medicine heals the pain and helps reduce the inflammation.

Though side effects of this medicine are mild in nature, you must consult a doctor if you experience any of them for a long time or is causing you excessive distress. Some most common Hifenac P side effects includes

  1. Diarrhoea
  2. Stomach pain
  3. Nausea
  4. Constipation
  5. Vomiting
  6. Skin Rashes

You must avoid the medication if you are a pregnant woman or a nursing mother. The medication can affect the growth of the child in both cases. Consuming alcohol while on medication is not suitable and you must stop the consumption during this period.

The dosage of the medicine can vary from person to person but you can take it twice a day to get the desired results. You must a good amount of water when under this course, as it will help with the digestion and keep you away from any stomach troubles.

Overdosage/Toxicology : Acetylcysteine 140 mg/kg orally (loading) followed by 70 mg/kg every 4 hours for 17 doses. Therapy should be initiated based upon laboratory analysis suggesting high probability of hepatotoxic potential. Activated charcoal is very effective at binding active constituents of Hifenac P Tablet.

    • How long is the duration of effect?

      The duration of the effect lasts between 12 -16 hours. The medication goes out of your body through urine and the effect too goes away with that.

      There have been no habit-forming tendencies reported as of now.

You must try to avoid the drug if you are under the medication of juxtapid mipomersen, leflunomide, ketoconazole, prilocaine, teriflunomide, lithium, digoxin, corticosteroids and antihypertensives.
