Hi, my name is Dr Jyotirmay Bharti, dermatologist and cosmetologist at skin radiance clinic, Gurgaon and visiting consultant at Max hospital sake and paras hospital, Gurgaon. Today I am going to talk about a very common topic hairfall, which is very common in males and well as females.

Hairfall is very depressing, in males especially which is one thing they find very dear to them and they feel that this is the only asset they have so when they visit us they are very depressed and sad and they feel like doing nothing and they feel like being useless in life so this problem can e very serious if not taken care of the right time. So I would suggest visit your dermatologist and take a simple small step towards the betterment of your hair. This is not very difficult to manage as we have many medicinal and non-medicinal thing.

Some biotin supplements which is very good for your hair, nail and skin that is recommended by your doctor to come to them and they will recommend you some vitamins, multivitamins because in male it is basically hormonal disturbances and in females it’s a deficiency, like iron deficiency, vitamin D deficiency, vitamin b12 deficiency all this is implicated in your hairfall. So come to your doctor they will recommend multivitamins. There are a few peptides which have been recommended and give very good results. It’s a long term treatment which takes like 5 to 6 months and it gives you overall very good hairfall control so not a difficult thing.

Just visit the dermatologist and take a good advice and take care of yourself. If you want to connect to me kindly visit librate.com.

Thank you so much.

Hi, Im Dr Jyotirmay Bharti, consultant dermatologist and cosmetologist. I am a director of skin radiance in Gurgaon and I am also a visiting consultant at Max Hospital, Saket and Paras Hospital, Gurgaon. Today I am going to talk about a very common topic, that is Acne. In general people call it pimples.

This is a common problem of adulthood and childhood. Mainly the adolescents suffer from this problem, but due to stress factor many a people are experiencing it after 30 years of age also. Why so? I will explain you later but this is a very common scenario and a very common problem people visit to me to seek some solution for acne.

At some period of time in your life everybody suffer from acne and they don’t know how to manage it and they take over the counter medication, they seek some advice from family, from guardian, from internet which is not good because this is not a big problem. This is a very small thing and can be taken care of, if you seek a good person to take care of it like your dermatologist.

So, what is acne?

Basically, acne is the overproduction of serum and is an inflammation of sebaceous gland. Basically, there is a sebaceous gland which is attached to hair root where you get due to hormonal changes when you reach adolescence your hormone gets changed and it gets activated and so it leads to increase in sebum production that is oil production. So, increased secretion of oil over your face and body leads to blockage of the duct and the exit and that can lead to acne formation and that sometimes is attached with inflammation and inflammation is you can say some bacterial reaction, bacterial growth in that which leads to redness, pigmentation and scars over your face which is very depressing in adolescence.

People come to me seeking for advice for stress, pigmentation and scarring because if acne is not taken care of that can lead to so many pigmentation and scarring. Scarring is the bed, which you can see many people suffer from that. So, I would suggest go to your dermatologist, that treatment is very easy, don’t go and seek any over the counter medication from any chemist because they generally recommend steroids which can further worsen your condition. Rather go to your dermatologist and there are so many medications and antibiotics as oral isotretinoin which reduces the inflammation real fast so you can prevent your scarring and pigmentation. Then there are so many chemical peeling and so many things which are available with us which we can introduce at a very good time saving your face and thus saving you from any kind of stress and depression. So visit your dermatologist and they will tell you how to clean your face. How simple procedures like applying a few creams and taking few oral medications can help you in your life.

So if you have any problem regarding your facial problem, your acne anytime you can connect me on librate.com So stay healthy, thank you so much, take care.

Hair Transplant: Procedures and Aftercare

Hair Transplant: Procedures and Aftercare

No one wants to go bald, but losing hair is not in someone's control. If you have reached a point where you are not left with much hair, and you feel awkward because of that, don't be disheartened. There are hair transplant procedures which can help you get your confidence back.

Here are two popular methods to regrow your hair:

Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE): No scalp tissue will be removed if you choose Follicular Unit Extraction method since every follicular unit is taken directly and individually from the scalp. It is done randomly and it results in lower density of hair in the donor area which is not noticeable in most cases.

  1. Pain Management: In FUE, stitches are unnecessary and there is no existence of any linear scar, so healing time is short and there is almost non-existent post procedural discomfort.
  2. Scarring: There is no linear scarring as such in FUE but there are 1mm in diameter or less puncture marks which heal by themselves within 3 to 7 days.

It is considered the best method for hair restoration in minor cases i.e. if the person does not suffer from advanced hair loss. This method boasts of a faster healing time and less discomfort.

Follicular Unit Transplant (FUT): If you opt for the Follicular Unit Transplantation method of hair transplant, the surgeon will remove a small strip of tissue, in order to extract the hair follicles present, from the back of your head. FUT is recommended in cases of advanced hair loss. FUT is also recommended as in most cases, your physician will be able to deliver results which meet your expectations.

  1. Pain Management: FUT procedure can cause some pain as swelling may occur in the region from where the tissue has been extracted. Suitable medication can be prescribed by your physician in case the pain persists.
  2. Scarring: Opting for a FUT procedure results in a very thin linear scar in the donor region. The scar is very much concealable as it is visible only if you opt for the shortest haircut styles.

Follicular Unit Transplantation is fast as it ensures most number of grafts that can be transplanted in a single session.

There are many things, which you must take care of after the procedures. Here are a few of those things:

  1. Scars: The procedure will leave you with a few scars as you wait for the hair to grow back from the replaced follicles. Ask your surgeon for medication which will bring down the swelling. You must make sure that you do not touch or scratch the surface under any circumstances.
  2. Elevation: After the procedure, as mentioned before, there will be some amount of swelling. So, it is important to keep your head in an elevated position so as to ensure that there is no extra swelling in the head.
  3. Physical activity: Sweating will make the scar and swelling even itchier. So, it is imperative that you shy away from physical activities like workouts and running. Also, you may want to stay out of the sun, or even avoid a trip to the sauna for a few days as the exposure may lead to sweating.
  4. Hygiene: The area around the scar and your scalp in general must be kept clean. Use mild shampoos and medication to keep the numbness and irritation at bay so that the scars get enough time to recover.

What Makes You Prone To Acne?

What Makes You Prone To Acne?

What makes you prone to Acne?

Acne is a disorder which is characterized by small red bumps on the skin or occluded pores in the skin such as blackheads. It can make people conscious of their appearance and result in low self-esteem and anxiety. It usually affects people who fall in the age group of 12-25, but sometimes older people also get affected.

There are various factors that makes the skin prone to acne. Acne occurs when overactive sebaceous glands (glands that produce oil in the skin) produce excess oil and the dead skin cells clog the pores of the hair follicle present in the skin. Inflammation occurs in the clogged hair follicle resulting in acne.

Some causes that makes your skin prone to acne are:

  1. Diet: Following a proper diet is a key factor in keeping your skin healthy. Food usually doesn't cause acne directly but can cause other problems such as greasy skin that are linked with acne. However, foods high in iodides such as seaweeds consumed over time can cause acne.
  2. Stress: Stress is another major cause that makes your skin prone to acne. When the body is stressed, it produces excessive testosterone (a sex hormone) resulting in excessive oil production. Stress also impairs the immune system of the body so that it becomes vulnerable to acne.
  3. Cosmetics: Some cosmetics (usually oil based) tend to clog the pores of the skin which may result in acne. Using harsh cleansing agents can dry and irritate the skin. Also, gentle washing of the skin is recommended to avoid breakouts.
  4. Hormones: Changes in hormonal balance can cause acne especially in the beginning of puberty. In some cases, women are affected by acne when the menstrual cycle stops. The acne caused by hormonal changes may also be genetic in nature.

5 Common Myths about DANDRUFF Busted!

5 Common Myths about DANDRUFF Busted!

5 Common myths on dandruff you’ve probably fallen for

Dandruff is not only an embarrassing condition but also a major cause for hairfall and hair weakening. It is estimated to affect as many as one in five individuals in India. Even though this is such a common issue, there’s still heaps of misleading conceptions about dandruff.

Myth1: “All flakes in your hair is dandruff”

Fact: Sometimes flakes are only a consequence of dry skin on your scalp. While the difference between dryness and dandruff might be unclear to the common individual, medical experts do make a distinction between the two. If your flakes are relatively small and white, chances are you’re dealing with a dry scalp - dandruff flakes tend to be larger and yellowish in colour.

Myth 2: “Dandruff is contagious”

Fact: Dandruff is not something that you can catch from someone else. The fungal bacteria that can lead to the appearance of dandruff are present on everybody’s scalp, which means all our scalps are naturally predisposed to the condition.

Myth 3: “Dandruff results from bad hygiene”

Fact: While regular shampooing can help keep dandruff under control, this condition does not stem from a lack of hygiene—even the most diligent hair washers can find themselves suffering from it. This is because dandruff is caused by various components, which include a characteristic overproduction of hair oil or an excess of parasitic microorganisms that live normally on our scalps.

Myth 4: “Dandruff only occurs on the scalp”

Fact: It's true that your scalp is the most widely recognised spot to experience dandruff, yet it's by all account not the only possibility. A few individuals additionally observe that areas such as the eyebrows, ears, and around the nose are inclined to flaking too.

Myth 5: “Dandruff can cause hair fall”

Fact: Hair fall is at some point connected with dandruff and an irritated scalp; however, these conditions are not mutually exclusive.  Hair fall is not brought about by dandruff, but rather might be prompted by the incessant need to scratch a bothersome scalp. When we scratch our heads, the activity causes breakage in the hair. The root cause of hair fall includes anxiety, diet and the overall health of your scalp.

Do You Know: Why Papaya is the God of Perfect Skin?

Do You Know: Why Papaya is the God of Perfect Skin?
Why Papaya is the God of Perfect Skin

Use a particular face wash and your face is free of all dead cells. it's not so simple. To dissolve the dead cells, the protein in the cells must be broken down. The only effective ingredients to do the job are AHAs or Alpha Hydroxy Acids. This is why many skin exfoliating products contain AHAs.

Papain, which is found in Papaya has similar properties. Papaya is a safe and natural, plant-based alternative to chemical exfoliants. To remove dead cells, gently massage papaya pulp on your face for about 5-7 minutes. Rinse your face alternatively with warm and cold water. Remember not to overdo it though! Papaya is an acidic fruit, so don’t let the mask sit on your face for too long as it might cause dryness and skin irritation.
