Hello for teeth cavity you should go to a dentist and get it restored. If not restored at proper time it can lead to severe pain and sensitivity. Once the decay starts it goes on destroying the layers of the tooth. Every tooth has 3 layers. Enamel the first layer. Ideally all decays should be restored at this stage. If not restored it can spread to 2nd layer which is dentine and at this stage you will feel sensitivity to hot & cold. And the third layer is the living tissue that is the pulp. If decay spreads to pulp it can lead to severe pain and sensitivity and at that time root canal treatment is done.

For dental decay (cavity) a restoration (filling) is advised if its infecting only enamel and dentin. If the deay has reached upto pulp (nerves) and the tooth is paining, then other treatmengt options have to be considered like rct or extraction depending upon the tooth condition. Kindly visit a dentist nearby. Your doctor would assess the condition and would advice accordingly. Regards.
