Hello doctor, I am sindhuja, 27 years old. Got married last year on april 6th 2018. We are trying to conceive from then. I consulted a gynaecologist 4 months ago and from last 2 months have been doing the follicular scans and ovulation is happening well and doctor suggested a timely intercourse and hug trigger shots and progesterone tablets from day 14th. My progesterone pills are done on 18th april morning and if there is no pregnancy I expected the periods to turn on 20th april but I didn't get my periods but I got very little brown spotting which is visible only when I wipe it or insert finger into vagina and check. Very neglible brown spotting for 3 days. Yesterday i.e on 23rd april I went to the doctor and beta hcl test have been done and it came out negative. And today I checked even the spotting has been stopped. But I am feeling extremely nauseous and body temperature is high and I feel little uneasy in my abdomen and my intuition says I am pregnant but the test shows low hcg and it's negative. I am always regular on my periods and usually once I stop progesterone pills, I have to get my periods at least in couple of days. Doctor suggested me to come back after 5 days for test if I do not get periods. Is there any chance of pregnancy even after negative hcg test as its little early so may be hcg levels have not rise. And periods didn't turn up till now and it's 7th day now. Can you guide what it could be. I am scared about the nausea and brown spotting.

Ms. lybrate-user, do not get scared. It may happen sometimes. Your nausea and brown discharge are due to progesterone. You should wait for your periods and in case they don't come, do urine pregnancy test and repeat beta hcg. Continue taking folic acids.
