I am a 26 years old male. I have recently quit alcohol. Since then I am having problem with passing stools. I am having bright red to maroon colour blood in stools now. A couple of small but painful lumps have also developed under my armpit. I am not sure both of these are related or not. What is the reason for all this? Is it rectal bleeding or something else? Kindly help me.

Dear lybrate-user, Congratulations for quitting alcohol. Please maintain it for few more months. Plan to control craving in tempting situations now itself. Bright red and maroon colour blood in stools may be due to constipation. Take lots of fiber and water. Still if you pass blood, consult a surgeon. Lumps in armpit may be lymph nodes that are infected. Find out the infection and treat with appropriate antibiotic. Any doctor can do it.
