Hi Doctor, For a year, I believe that my bp was increased due to anxiety, but due to forgetful reasons never got it checked. However, yesterday I thought about getting it checked. The reading was 150/90. Then a doctor from my college health center prescribed me two medicines: Amlip 5 and Tofisern 50 for 5 and 10 days respectively. I purchased Amlip 5 but Tofisern 50 is not available anywhere. Is there any other medicine that I can use instead of Tofisern-50? Also, Is it okay to take these medications at my age (21)? How to Control Anxiety and Bp? Thanks.

If increase in BP is due to anxiety, BP medicines should be avoided and anxiety reducing medicine has to be given and BP rechecked. The cause needs to be treated more importantly than the effect. As most patients have normal BP after anxiolytics. If it still persists, then BP medications can be considered. Consult a psychiatrist. All the best.
