I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism an year back. (TSH 0.03). Without any treatment the TSH value became 6.43 after 6 months corresponding to hypothyroidism. Due to hypo symptoms. Prescribed Thyronorm 12.5. After taking thyronorm for 3 months the TSH became 5.77, FT4 normal, TPO Antibody negative and Thyroglobulin Antibody positive (243.7) Dosage of Thyronorm increased to 25 mg. Having tiredness and palpitations. BP150/100. Meds for BP CILACAR morning and Cilacar 10 mg night. Is my thyroid problem autoimmune. Do I need further evaluation. I am 47 year old male My BMI is 29.

Yes your thyroid problem is autoimmune. Continue thyroid supplement as advised by your Physician. Reduce weight to keep your BMI under 25. Discuss with your Physician to change cilacar which may be causing palpitation.

Probably you had thyroiditis which has this course from hyperthyroidism to hypothyroid As anti TPO is negative U may not need treatment Try to find out other etiology for your current symptoms. If you stopped treatment jus repeat it after 3 month then we can always reassess.
