Hi Doctor, I am a 44 Years old male from Chennai. I used to jog regularly since 2 years at least 3 days in a week. Used to attend half marathons once in a month. About 1 months back I got pain in my left hip joint (femur / pelvic bone joint) and mild swelling with pain in one of the finger joint. Consulted an Ortho, after 15 days of trial medicines he could find it is a Gout as my SUA level is 6.40. He suggested to take allopurinol 200 mg per day with anti inflammatory medicine. Now after 20 days of medicines my SUA level has come down to 4.2. But still mild pain exist in the hip while walking and swelling in the finger joint is not reduced. Should I continue medicines? Shall I be able to restart my running in future? Please help me clearing my doubts. Thanks.
