A toothache is a condition, which is characterized by mild or intense pain in or around a tooth. The common reasons behind toothache include abscessed tooth, tooth fracture, damaged filling and infected gums. Apart from these causes, there are other factors too that can cause a toothache. Particles of food produce bacteria which generate acids. Acids erode the enamel and leads to the formation of cavities. A sticky substance called plaque brings about cavity formation. A few self-care activities such a gargling with warm water and flossing should be regularly done to prevent toothache.
