First and foremost thing is, avoid excess intake of salt like pickles, pappads, adding salt to curd rice, namkeens, oil fried food, etc.
Get rid of mental tensions and worries.
Good sleep for 7-8 hours.
Start anti hypertensive medication as per the advise of your physician.
Walk daily for 1 hour.
Perform yoga and meditation to ease out your body and mind.
Avoid smoking and alcohol intake.

Hello lybrate-user. It depends on how severe it is. You have not given any details about the treatment taken till now. Etc.
Still as a general rule. Do the following.
Take salt restricted diet.
Do regular exercise or pranayama like anulom vilom and kapal bharti.
Avoid stressfull situation.
