I would suggest you to follow a fiber rich diet (eg- oats, dalia, multigrain bread, fruits, salad etc), and avoid fried foods and processed and starchy foods like- rice, desserts, carbonated drinks, alcohol esp beer, and drink at least 8-10 glasses of water the whole day.

include whole pulses and legumes like rajmah ,channa ,soya and rongi are rich in fibre use them regularly .
include complex carbohydrate foods like oatmeal,fruits, and vegtable ,foods to avoid simple carbohydrate such as sugar, bread, cookie etc

Do aerobic exercise. The first step to burning overall body fat is aerobic exercise. Strengthen muscles. Losing fat alone can leave you with flabby legs, so you'll need to invest some time in defining your muscles. Reduce calories.

Diet is not costly. Even in Hostel you can bring simple fruits like bananas, orange, apple, Mosambi, melons etc and eat these more instead of oily foods. Drink water before and during meals so that you consume less food. Walk daily, climb stairs, do yoga or any exercise. Make a daily plan. The best cure for depression is Action.
