What are the best home remedies for mouth ulcers?

Mouth ulcers occur inside the mouth in the form of painful sores. Usually, within a week or two, it clears up on its own. However, for a quick cure, try these simple home remedies.

  1. Baking Soda:

    It is a great remedy to cure mouth ulcers. It has antibacterial properties that can keep our mouth germ free. Sometimes ulcers are caused by acidic food or drinks. Being a natural neutralizer, baking soda can help cure it. Mix a little water with a spoonful of baking soda powder. Keep the solution in your mouth for a few minutes.

    You can also make a paste of water and baking soda and apply it to the affected area for better results.

  2. Sea salt:

    It is a very effective disinfectant. It is an antiseptic that will prevent an ulcer from spreading. Take two spoons of sea salt and mix it in a warm glass of water. Rinse your mouth with it.

  3. Coconut milk:

    It is a great pain reliever. Just mix some honey with coconut milk and apply it to the affected areas. You can also mix it with water and rinse your mouth.

  4. Honey:

    It is a natural moisturizer and thus helps in accelerating the healing process of ulcers. It also has antimicrobial properties. Apply honey with the help of a cotton ball on the affected areas for a quick recovery.

  5. Turmeric:

    Turmeric is well known for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidants properties. Turmeric helps to prevent mouth ulcer.

  6. Apple Cider Vinegar:

    Apple cider vinegar possesses an antibacterial property that helps to fight against the germs. It helps to provide relief from ulcer in a short time. You can rinse your mouth with a solution of apple cider vinegar and water.

  7. Orange juice:

    Vitamin C helps to cure mouth ulcer by promoting the immune response to fight against the infection and orange is a rich source of Vitamin C. You can either drink orange juice or eat oranges.

  8. Clove oil:

    Clove oil contains antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties which help to fight against the bacteria causing ulcer. Clove oil also contains a compound called eugenol that helps to treat the ulcer. You can directly apply clove oil to the ulcer using a cotton ball.

  9. Yoghurt:

    Yoghurt contains healthy gut bacteria which helps to fight against infection and reduce the unhealthy bacteria present in the gut. A yoghurt is a form of probiotics.

  10. Watermelon:

    Water containing fruits like watermelon provides relief from ulcer pain and also helps in curing ulcer by cooling down the stomach heat.

  11. Garlic:

    Garlic has certain antimicrobial and antibacterial properties that keep the ulcer-causing bacterium in check. Every morning, crush two or three cloves of garlic and have it, and then drink a glass of water. Have it daily to ease the inflammation in your mouth.
