Hello I agree that your father has lost a lot of weight but my humble advice is please refer to the hospital dietitian who can monitor them on day to day basis as his parameters will be checked regularly. Just make sure his diet is of fresh food ,nothing that comes in a packet .No Maida products. More green vegetables more protein intake like Dals whole beans, eggs If he can digest and chicken soup.

Avoid sugar,junk food,fried foodand fruit juices.Miss one major meal lunch or dinner and take 30gm protein powder in water.Walk atleast 1/2 hour a day.

It is a long question. For diabetic take sugar free items, avoid potato, rice.

No diabetes patients should not eat all types of dry fruits or fresh fruits.
The sugar values are very high and requires medication or increase in doses if already taking antidiabetic.
