Hi. My baby is 47 days old. Morning time she never sleeps. She sleeps only in night for 5-6 hours. But if I wake her in between for feeding she is not sleeping after that. But if I don't not wake her she sleeps continuously for 6 hours also. Please advise if can I leave her to sleep continuously for 5-6 hours?

Sleep is very important for a baby's growth n development. If she sleeps uninterrupted, 5-6 hours, do nt wake her for a feed. Try feeding her in her sleep, if she gets disturbed, n does not sleep, nev disturb her peaceful sleep. A baby will cry when hungry.

Please note that -- babies/infants sleep typically up to 16 to 17 hours a day. But most babies don't stay asleep for more than two to four hours at a time, day or night, during the first few weeks of life. At 6 to 8 weeks of age, most babies begin to sleep for shorter periods during the day and longer periods at night, though most continue to wake up to feed during the night. Hence its not unusual if your baby is sleeping a lot/5-6 hours at a stretch. Please keep an eye on the stool/urine and other body activities and get in touch with your Doctor - if you notice any abnormalities.

Hello, library user, you are lucky enough that your baby sleeps in the night as in most of cases, babies do not sleep in the night & cry for the whole night. However, she should not be left for 6 hrs, continuously without feeding & be breastfed, three hourly. Inculcate your expertise to manage your baby to sleep ,thereafter. Tk, care.
