Mr. lybrate-user, Jaggery and sugar are similar in terms of giving the amount of glucose, as both contain sucrose which is made up of Glucose + Fructose. The main difference is in manufacturing process. Jaggery is made without using aany chemicals compared to sugar. Therefore, it is supposed to contain certain antioxidents, other than that there is no other advantage. But if a person is having diabetes then both these substances should be avoided. Thanks.

Hi Jaggery is made from unrefined sugar. They have good nutrients in them and hence is believed to be healthy when compared to your refined sugar. But ultimately they are sugars and when taken by diabetics they do increase the blood sugar. If taken for long term they cause weight gain and worm infestation.
