Two days ago, I had sex with a prostitute. My condom burst during vaginal sex. I was cautious enough to notice it. And pulled off within 2 or 3 seconds. Condom was there in my penis and was well covered but teared from the front. Then I cleaned my penis with towel and then continued with a new Condom. After an hour I cleaned my penis throughly with savlon. The sex worker told me she doesn't hv HIV. But I don't trust her. I am really worried and depressed. Is there a chance of contacting HIV? please help me .M feeling suicidal.

Hello First of all relax Do not over react. Chances are very very RARE. You should do your blood test after 3 weeks for P24. Not a bad idea to visit an Infectious doctor for further consultation.

Mr. lybrate-user you are not likely to worried or feeling depression became hiv infection is transmitted through sexual route when sex is performed with hiv infected partner since both of you were hiv -ve hence no chance anyhow if you do not trust on partner then you go for hiv testing after 3 month of exposure in my opinion it is required and a lesson to you for future that sexual contact should be made with your wife .both of you should be faithful with each otherwise you will ruin your life if you become hiv +ve wish you good luck.

Good Afternoon, I understand your situation and I believe you will be relieved to find out your HIV status now. Since you had the sexual contact about 2-3 days ago and you are unsure of the prostitute's HIV status although you mention of it as being negative, I believe you have concerns strong enough that you are depressed and anxious that you may be having HIV. The window period for HIV infection is about 3-4 months and you should get yourself checked again so that you know your HIV status better. Till then your anxiety and depression need to be treated and I can help with medications. Look forward to hearing from you. If you need help with booking an appointment online with me on this website either text, audio or video appointment for confidential and private consultation you may do so by contacting the help desk of Lybrate.

If she has HIV, you might have got it transmitted or not. But since condom breakage with a high risk partner has happened it is wise to get tested by 3rd gen test after 10-15 days of exposure and by ELISA for antibodies after 3 months of exposure. All the best.
