Good morning Doctor, I am 4 month 2 weeks pregnant and I'm having little bleeding/ spotting problem from 2nd month onwards very frequently. Doctor said that my placenta distance is 2.2 only but once baby start growing it will pulled up. Hence we don't have sex till this date however my friend is telling me that having sex during pregnancy will help normal delivery. I request you to advise whether it's good to have sex and sperm can be release inside or not. Also till which month is safe to have intercourse please advise. This is my first pregnancy.

If everything is normal than I normally advice couple can have sex after 3rd month and before 9th month started, if everything is normal. In your case if you have intermittent bleeding episodes during 4 months than I advice not to have sex in this pregnancy at all. Bleeding can be dangerous for baby and can abort your pregnancy at any stage. You have to categories every pregnancy, even the 2nd pregnancy of same individual may have to follow different precautions. So if you had bleeding than don't have sex in this pregnancy. Intercourse can starts uterine contractions and abortion or delivery process but it is not compulsory that you will end up in normal delivery. There are number of factors which also responsible for normal delivery to happen. But in case it starts uterine contraction before full term it can end up in abortion. So understand your situation and than decide whome to believe. Hopefully you get your answer.
