I had pain after the RCT and capping of my teeth. This time I had approached another dentist who took an x-ray and said that the RCT was done only half way. Hence they have to do a re-RCT. He also said that the normal protocol is to take X-ray before, two while doing the RCT and one after finished. Is this the normal protocol. The doctor is charging me Rs. 3000/- for RCT and another 3000/- for the cheapest cap. Is this the right cost? How do I know what cap is good. There are discussions that RCT causes cancer. What are the chances or dangers of doing RCTs if I have to repeat them as in the above case?

Thanks for your query. First of all I want to say cancer is not related with any dental treatment if you did your job at registered BDS or MDS Doctor. Dental treatment is one thing and cancer is another thing. In your case if during RCT procedure cleaning of root canal did not done properly, ie not to proper height of canal then pain persists aftert RCT.In this case ReRCT is the one option in which canal cleaning is repeated and extended till required height and continue with restoration and capping again. The protocol used during RCT/reRCT is right, this give perfect results. Charges for RCT varies according to place, in your case a genuine charge taken by Doctor. Total ceramic crown is best crown/cap of all. THANKs again.

I need to see the X-ray before I can comment on the rct done previously. There's are many such cases. The pricing is about right. But there are other caps which might cost a little bit more. But are precision made These caps are better as they last longer.
