Dear lybrateuser, -yes you have to take precaution in your dietary habits & do regular exercise as you have a familial history of heart disease -your diet should consist mainly of fibre containing foods, fruits & vegetables including green leafy vegetables, beans, sprouts, whole grains like wholewheat bread/chapatti, brown rice, corn, have low fat milk & milk products, non-veg, fish, chicken, have a handful of mixed nuts- almonds, walnuts, pistachio, peanuts, use olive, canola or safflower oils for cooking -do regular exercises like jogging, cycling, swimming, outdoor games for 20-30 min on most days, also do moderate weight lifting on alternate days, -do meditation & yoga to reduce stress -sleep for at least 7-8 hrs in the night, keep sleep & wake up time fixed -get regular check up of bp, blood sugar, cholesterol, ecg done to detect any problem if it is there & cure it -lead a healthy, stress free lifestyle to prevent disease.
