It has been researched now that the type of food we eat can impact our mood a lot. You can take these foods to help you in depression: whole wheat, oats, rice, barley, beans, soya. Fatty fish like salmon and tuna can be good for you if you are a non vegetarian. Leafy vegetables like spinach, kale, broccoli and lentils are also good. It would be my suggestion to meet a counselor along with modification in diet.
