Dear , the sleep requirement varies from individual to individual, for an average adult it should be 7.5-8 hrs but many people sleep for a shorter duration and are fresh and energetic. Along with the duration of the sleep, the quality of sleep is also very important. Snoring, sleep apnea, some medications, alcohol, diabetes, stress etc disturb the sleep quality. Once these disorders are addressed normal sleep pattern will emerge. Best of luck.
